ZR and ZM
APPLICATION
Joints ZR and ZM are designated for splicing of jelly-filled and non-filled plastic communication cables. Type ZR is recommended for the first mounting of heat shrinkable cable joint. Type ZM is recommended for repair of joints. The cable joints ZR and ZM are easy applicable and reparable.
MARKING
Marking consists of character sign ZR or ZM before that is a number to indicate joint size (Tab. 2).
CONSTRUCTION AND PARTS OF HEAT SHRINKABLE JOINT
The basic set of joint contents:
• Heat shrinkable tube (joint ZR) or sleeve with metallic strip (joint ZM), which create the jacket of joint
• Liner from electro-technical board laminated by one side with aluminium foil
• Desiccant
• Another material: abrasive cloth, aluminium self-adhesive foil and cleaning tissue.
The quantity of desiccant and other material depends on joint size.
For complete of basic set can be on client`s request delivered following material:
• Conductor for shield connection, if the continuity is not assured by additional wire. (It is produced in five lengths in accordance to joint size.)
• Three-part clip necessary for creation of so called branch-off joint, which connects more than two cables. (It is produced in 2 sizes, so called three-part clip bigger and smaller.)
• Other supplement material.
CHARACTERISTICS
Inside the heat shrinkable tubes and sleeves are provided with a layer of hot melt adhesive, which after installation ensures a perfect bonding of the cable and joint.
Tubes (sleeves) are made from cross-linked polyethylene, which properties are shown in Tab. 1.
Basic dimensions of joints and their attachment for direct joints of cables are shown in Tab.2 and 3.
Heat shrinkable joints ZR and ZM are produced and delivered according to PN VUKI 22 006.
